Huanglong A Beautiful Place In China

Situated in the northwest of Sichuan Province, the Huanglong is made up of snow-capped peaks and the glaciers easternmost China. In addition to its alpine landscape, diverse forest ecosystems can be found, as well as spectacular limestone formations, waterfalls and hot springs. The area is also home to various endangered animals, including the giant panda and the Sichuan snub-nosed golden monkey.

Brief Introduction
The Huanglong is located in Songpan County of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and derives its name because it resembles a huge golden dragon. The main scenic area covers over 700 square kilometers and is famous for its "four wonders", namely colorful ponds, snow-capped mountains, beautiful valleys and verdant forests. It is the only intact plateau wetland in China.
The main scenic spot-Huanglong Valley, 3,500-meter-long, situated at the foot of the snow-capped summit of the main peak of the Minshan Mountain, is distributed with over 3,400 colorful travertine ponds. It boasts the largest and most intact karst landscape in the world. The colorful ponds are formed due to the chromatism of their deposits and the influence of plants of different colors growing around. The waters look particularly gorgeous under the sunlight. Of them all, the Multi-color Pond has an elevation of 3,900 meters and covers an area of 21,000 square meters, being actually composed of 693 separate colorful ponds. It is the highest and largest complex of such waters and world-famous for its elegance, colors and lucidity.
Moreover, the golden travertine shoals, with an area of over 80,000 square meters, glow quietly in the dense forests. The most famous Golden Sand Shoal is 2,500 meters long and between 30-170 meters wide. The glittering and translucent brook flows on the golden travertine rocks, forming the best, largest, Lạc Sơn Đại Phật longest and most colorful travertine stream in the world.
In addition, the valley is scattered by numerous waterfalls and karst caves including the largest travertine Xishen Cave in the world.
Huanglong is also home at least 1,500 native plants and numerous kinds of animals such as the first-class giant panda and golden monkey under the State protection.
Tourist Information
Transport
Tourists can take bus to the scenic area through the Chuanzhusi-Jiuzhaigou Highway from Chengdu, or take plane to the Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong Airport. It is probably most advisable to take a bus heading for Songpan or Chengdu for the 92 kilometers journey south to the Chuanzhusi Temple and then get on the bus for Pingwu which will carry you the remaining 41 kilometers east to the Huanglong Temple.
Shopping
Such special local products as ginseng fruits, Hsueh-lien-hua, Bulbus Fritillariae Unibracteatae, aweto, and tuber of elevated gastrodia, and souvenirs including embroideries, Tibetan knives, carvings and traditional gold and silver headgear are all available at Huanglong, but one should be prepared to dis-tinguish the genuine articles from false ones.
Other Information
The best time to visit Huanglong is the period from late spring to early autumn, in particular from the end of September to October. The admission is 110 yuan.

It is highly recommended that you taste the special food and drink of the Tibetan ethnic group which includes such famous delicacies as roasted lamb, buttered tea, barley wine, milk products, yak meat and kynghidongduong.vn duck cooked with aweto. Be aware that the Dujuanlin Tourist Reception Center in the scenic area is the only tourist services and catering center.
